This Privacy Policy explains how Live at The Local collects, uses, and protects personal data when you use the Live at The Local mobile app and related services.

This policy applies to all users of Live at The Local, including:

  • Public users (fans)

  • Musicians

  • Venues and venue operators

  • People who contact us for support.

2.1 Data you provide directly

  • Account data: email address, authentication credentials, and account type.

  • Profile data:

    • Public users: basic profile details

    • Musicians: musician/stage name and account detail

    • Venues: venue name, venue address/location, contact details used for verification workflows

  • Event data: event title/details such as venue name, artist, genre, date/time, location coordinates, optional notes, and event metadata

  • Saved content: saved events, saved venues, and saved musicians

  • Feedback and support data: information you submit through in-app feedback or support emails.

 

2.2 Data collected automatically

  • App/device technical data (e.g., app version, platform diagnostics)

  • Authentication/session/security logs

  • Operational analytics and performance signals used to troubleshoot reliability and abuse

  • Local app cache/settings data on your device (for faster loading and account-state hydration).

 

2.3 Location and map data

  • If you grant location permission, we process location data to show nearby events and map views.

  • We process event location details (coordinates/address) to display events on maps and support "view on map" flows.

  • Location permission is optional, but map/discovery features may be reduced if not granted.

 

2.4 Data from third-party providers

Depending on your sign-in method and app usage, we may receive data from:

  • Apple Sign In and/or Google Sign In

  • Firebase Authentication and related Firebase services

  • Map and location providers used by iOS and app integrations.

 

3. How we use personal data

We use personal data to:

  • Create and manage user accounts

  • Authenticate users and enforce role-based permissions

  • Allow event creation, editing, deletion, and display

  • Power saved items and profile-related features

  • Run venue verification and musician/venue trust workflows

  • Provide map discovery and location-based event browsing

  • Maintain app security, prevent abuse/spam, and enforce rate limits

  • Troubleshoot issues and improve app reliability/performance

  • Respond to feedback, support requests, and legal obligations.

 

We do not sell your personal data.

4. Legal bases for processing (UK GDPR)

Depending on context, we rely on:

  • Contract: to provide the app features you request.

  • Legitimate interests: service security, abuse prevention, diagnostics, and product improvement.

  • Consent: where required (for example, device location permissions).

  • Legal obligation: where required by law.

We share data only where needed to operate the service, including with:

  • Firebase/Google Cloud services (authentication, database, functions, analytics/performance, app security)

  • Map/location service providers used by app features

  • Hosting/infrastructure and operational tooling providers

  • Apple and Google where required for platform services and app distribution.

 

Some providers act as processors on our behalf; others may act as independent controllers for their own services.

We may also disclose data where required by law, legal process, fraud prevention, or rights protection.

Account deletion

You can delete your account self-serve in the app (preferred method). If you cannot delete your account in-app, you can also request deletion by contacting us at support@liveat-thelocal.co.uk.

 

After you request deletion, we will delete or de-identify your personal data in line with our legal and operational obligations. Some data may be retained for a limited period for backups, security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance, then deleted or de-identified where appropriate.
